About
Agriforest specialises in providing market leading returns for owners of small to medium sized woodlands primarily on farms & estates. We do this through having a combination of our own harvesting machinery and retained contractors, meaning we can offer a reliable and efficient service to cover any size of site.
We have no ties or interests in any one particular market and are not ‘end users’ of the timber we harvest i.e we don’t process any timber ourselves-the timber we harvest is sold to the most suitable market at the best possible price. We are able to access smaller independent sawmills & firewood processors, right through to international markets. Our FSC® and PEFC certification enable us to sell to markets at a more favourable price, and help to keep timber moving off site which is of equal importance. The certification we have is exactly the same as our larger competitors, meaning we are on equal terms when it comes to negotiating prices with sawmills. Our team has over 100 years experience from ground to management level in the forest industry, and we are ideally placed to offer an excellent and well executed service to our clients.
One of our aims as a business is to realise the income available from privately owned woodlands. Many owners are unaware of the benefits of effective woodland management, whether this be thinning to achieve a better final crop, or clear felling areas which are at the end of the growing cycle. Even the poorest quality timber still has a market and therefore a value.
A unique aspect of the business is that there are no upfront fees for our services, from initial appraisal and reporting, to obtaining relevant consents, and organising & implementing everything from start to finish. Prompt payment for timber sold on behalf of our clients is also a high priority, to assist owners with other projects they may have planned elsewhere on the ground they own.
