Meet the team:

Agriforest is owned and directed by Douglas Mathison, who was born and brought up in the Scottish Borders, an area which he resides in today.

Initially training and working as a tree surgeon for an established Borders based business, Douglas then attended the Scottish Agricultural College graduating with a degree in Rural Business Management. This then led to a position with a large national timber harvesting company as a manager, which developed further practical and theoretical skills acquired initially when studying for his degree. The combination of practical, theoretical and management experience ultimately led to the incorporation of Agriforest Ltd in 2016.

Agriforest also have a full time Operations Manager-Dominik Raton, who also lives in the Scottish Borders. With a substantial career in the forest industry behind him from planting to tree surgery and forest management, Dominik is a hugely experienced manager who brings a significant skill level to some of our complex and time consuming projects which we undertake regularly. Dom is also a very outdoors orientated individual who enjoys hill walking and sea fishing in his spare time.

Managing Director

Douglas Mathison

Douglas founded Agriforest, the specialist timber harvesting and forest management company in 2016, and he manages the business day to day, and is who clients generally meet initially and throughout any work.

Operations Manager

Dominik Raton

Dominik - 'Dominik has been with the firm since it started, has a significant background in forestry, and can operate all of the machinery. Dom manages all of Agriforest's varied work - from planting sites to health and safety.

Harvester Operator

Grant Bisset

With nearly 30 years of forestry work under his belt, Grant has recently taken on the challenge of driving Agriforest's brand new harvester. Attention to detail, customer service, and leaving a tidy site are some of Grant's many attributes.

Forwarder Operator

Dan Locke

Dan operates our brand new John Deere Forwarder, having spent nearly 10 years previously as a foreman in an urban forestry setting. Dan manages all of our roadside stock as part of his role, and keeps the timber harvesting sites running smoothly.

Chainsaw Operator

Frazer Anderson

Frazer is an experienced chainsaw operator well used to dealing with challenging sites and larger trees. He is a valued member of the team undertaking physically demanding work which requires a high level of skill.

Forwarder Operator

Andrew Young

Andrew joined us with a wealth of experience (over 15 years to be precise) in forest machinery and this is highly evident in his quality of work and productivity. Andrew operates one of the John Deere forwarders along with other machinery work when required.
